The Galen Centre of Health and Social Policy is organising a training workshop with cancer advocates to equip them with the necessary basic skills and knowledge to engage with media practitioners.
Not sure whether its worth engaging with the Malaysian media? Uncertain how to pitch your story or wondering why nobody from the media attends your events? Interested to learn on how to position your organisation to speak out on cancer or any particular related issue?
Advocacy is in the lifeblood of any non-profit organisation. It is necessary to advance causes and agendas, secure and sustain much needed resources, improve lives, engage supporters and funders, as well as empower and strengthen communities.
The media can amplify advocacy messages to the public or influence key decision makers. Media advocacy is a critical component of advancing issues-based advocacy. However, working with media can often feel difficult, intimidating and antagonistic.
Come learn skills which will allow you to better prepare to advocate for your non-profit organisation and your cause, using the media as an extension of your work. Join this intensive training and get ready to feel confident in your interactions with members of the media whether you are sending out a press statement, pitching a story or building relationships with journalists and editors.
If you are a cancer advocate or speaking on cancer, this workshop is for you! Register now. Places are limited.
No fee charged.
